A wind-up carousel music box for iPhone, and my own app
Visit the live site ↗

Hele is Filipino for lullaby. It is a wooden carousel music box for iPhone, made for children five and under, mostly at bedtime. A child turns the brass key, lets go, and a lullaby plays on a music-box comb, slowing as the spring runs down. A small lever stops it.
This one is mine, not a client’s. I designed and built it with AI assisting, on the engineering and as a sounding board. The hard part was still design: an interface that makes sense to a two-year-old who can’t read and to a parent at the end of a long day. It came down to one gesture. Turn the key, watch it play.
There are no buttons, no rewards, and nothing on screen looks back at the child. The screen stays warm and dim, and sleep mode fades the light down and stops on its own. It is paid once, with no ads and nothing collected.
